As part of my PhD work, I delved into the exciting world of spatial emotion visualization in Virtual Reality. My goal was to understand how people imagine emotions as 3D forms and how these representations can be used in both individual and social contexts to enhance emotional self-awareness and communication.
To answer these questions, we conducted a user study using a prototype of this concept. Participants created their own unique "emotion islands" in a VR sculpting application, and were then able to explore these spaces alone and with a study partner. These islands were brought to life in a Unity application.
As the main researcher on this project, I was responsible for developing the concept, prototyping the VR application, and conducting the user study. I collaborated with my co-advisor and a fellow PhD student.
The outcome of the user studies was published as a full paper at Creativity and Cognition Conference in 2021.
