Narrative Dance in XR

In this project, immigration experiences come to life through dance in Virtual Reality. Snippets of dancers' movements were captured using two Kinects and the resulting point clouds were transformed into choreographies using Blender and Unity. The performance was set to an original sound composition, with dancers represented as mesmerizing particle systems. The backdrop features abstract representations of popular squares from four cities, adding a cultural touch to the immersive VR experience.

This experience will also be integrated into a live performance. A dancer's movements will be captured in real-time and streamed directly into the VR environment, allowing each audience member to connect with the performer in a shared virtual space. This will be achieved through a central web-server and real-time communication over web sockets.

As a member of the project team, I was involved in the ideation process, played a key role in creative decision-making, and was responsible for editing the point clouds in Blender. I developed the web server in Node.js and was one of two Unity developers.
